Your daily trip to and from work doesn't have to be a complete waste of time. Experts say that with some strategic planning you can easily use your commute to recharge and boost productivity.

Amy Hoover, president of Talent Zoo, says that whether you drive, carpool, take a train, bike, or walk, making the most of that time can help set up the rest of your day. "If you're interested in knocking out some work or simply relaxing, there are things you can do to turn a lengthy commute from a frustrating time-eater to a satisfying and productive time of day."

Here are 12 productive things you can do during your commute:

Ramp up or wind down

1/12

The first thing you need to do is recognize what kind of person you are, says Connie Thanasoulis-Cerrachio, a career expert and cofounder of SixFigureStart. If you're energized in the morning and tired in the early evening, for example, use your trip to work to accomplish tasks and your trip home to relax and reenergize.

Bicycle or walk to work, if possible.

2/12

While it's unlikely to make your commute shorter, starting or finishing the day with some physical activity can keep your brain sharp, in addition to keeping your body in shape, says Rita Friedman, a Philadelphia-based career coach.

Reflect

3/12

"Taking time each week during your commute to check in on your goals is a great way to stay on track and make adjustments," says Teri Hockett, chief executive of What's for Work? It's also the perfect time to think about what makes you happy and what areas of your life could be improved.

3 tips for finding the perfect holiday job

If you're in the market for a seasonal job this winter, it's not too early to begin your search. Here's how to find the best position for you.
Every year, it seems as though the winter holiday shopping season begins earlier and earlier. Before the last Halloween-themed candy bag has been removed from the shelves, stores have already started decking their walls with holiday d├ęcor.
Then there are those stores that prefer to wait until after Thanksgiving before celebrating the next round of holidays.
Yet, if you're in the market for a seasonal job this winter, it's not too early to begin your search. And to help in your quest, we've compiled some top tips for pursuing the perfect holiday position.

Find a job that fits your needs. When searching for a holiday position, think about what you're looking for in an ideal job. Are flexible hours important? How much does the company culture matter? Do you want to work somewhere known for its great benefits? Is location a major factor?
If you're job searching on-the-go, CareerBuilder's mobile website has recently rolled out the addition of filters to make your mobile job search more precise. This includes a distance filter, which allows you to search within five miles of a desired zip code – a helpful feature if finding a job near your home tops your wish list.

Find a job with staying power. While not always the case, many job seekers are hoping that their holiday gig eventually turns into a full-time career. According to a recent CareerBuilder survey, there are good odds of that happening: 57 percent of employers predict they'll transition some seasonal staff into full-time, permanent roles.
If that's your goal, don't be afraid to ask the hiring manager if the position could turn permanent, and make it clear that you're interested. If hired, prove that you're worth the long-term investment by going above and beyond your job description and being a trusted, go-to resource for your boss.

Find a company that plays to your strengths. While retail reigns during the holiday season, don't worry if retail sales isn't your strong suit. CareerBuilder's survey found that companies across industries are hiring for a variety of areas, including customer service, clerical support, inventory management, hosting and shipping/delivery.

No matter what kind of job you're seeking, below are nine diverse companies that are currently hiring for a range of seasonal roles:

The best paying job of all: anesthesiologist.
Business Insider

By Jacquelyn Smith

C-Suite executives are known for pulling in a pretty penny. But as it turns out, doctors make even more.

That's right: On average, those sporting scrubs and stethoscopes bring home fatter paychecks than those donning suits and ties, according to the latest Bureau of Labor Statistics' Occupational Employment and Wage Estimates survey.

The
survey, which reflects May 2014 salary and employment data gathered from more than one million businesses, found that 16 of the nation's top 30 highest-paying occupations are in the medical field.

The best-paying job of all: anesthesiologist.

On average, anesthesiologists in the US earn an average annual salary of $246,320.

According to the
American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), these medical doctors are responsible for the safety and well being of patients before, during, and after surgery. In the US, they're required to complete a four-year undergraduate college degree, four years of medical school, and a four-year anesthesiology residency program. Most anesthesiologists become board certified, and many complete an additional fellowship year of specialty training.

People With These 20 Jobs Got the Biggest Pay Raises Over the Past 12 months

Now the question is... how will you spend all of this extra cash?

By

We all hope to see our paychecks grow every year, but for many, raises are few and far between — or they're so small they hardly make a difference.
In fact, the national average for salary increase is 2.2%, according to the BLS. But that's certainly not the case for everyone.
To find out who saw the biggest spikes in salary over the past 12 months, Glassdoor looked at total pay data (which includes base pay, tips, commissions, bonuses, and all other forms of pay) for people in all professions and pinpointed the 20 jobs for which people reported the most significant growth between September 2014 and September 2015.

For a job title to be eligible for the report, it had to have at least 500 salary reports shared by US-based employees on Glassdoor between September 2013 and today.

"This jobs report is helpful for anyone who may be thinking about a new job, and wants to go into a role where salary is increasing more than average," says Scott Dobroski, Glassdoor's community expert. "What's especially interesting about the results is the wide variety of jobs, showing that pay is rising across tech and healthcare jobs in particular, which isn't a big surprise, but also in retail and food services. We're likely seeing an increase there due to the minimum wage and fair wage debates continuing."

Here are the 20 jobs with the biggest pay raises over the past 12 months:
